Hello,
You might remember that a couple of weeks ago one of our members, Stefanie Baeker, wrote a beautifully inspirational piece for us all which was filed in our Members/Community Spotlight archive.
And as Stefanie is also a professional astrologer, I asked her if she’d also like to write an equally inspirational piece every now and again on the planets and astrology.
She said yes – and here is her first piece on the very special planet of Venus.
And what an appropriate planet to start with. Not only is Venus the planet of love and partnerships, but this year Venus takes centre-stage with her transit between the Earth and the Sun – the Transit of Venus.
As you’ll read at the bottom of the article, Stefanie’s approach to astrology is rather unique. She likes to explore emotional and psychological relations to circumstances, and looks for patterns and trends as a means to finding inspirational self-repair and solutions.
The other thing that Stefanie specialises in is astrology for children.
It was only the other day that I was speaking to someone about some of the hopeless things that parents do, unknowingly, to their little children.
And when I first heard of what Stefanie does, I thought – how brilliant.
She will do an astrology chart for a young child and then go through it with the parent so that they can have a good idea of what the child will be like as they are growing up. As a result, the parent will be so much more able to support the child’s special talents or unusual ways if they show up too.
And what a great baby present to give to a mother. Give them a reading on their child with Stefanie.
Now I haven’t mentioned this because I get an affiliate commission – I don’t. But the reason I have given this particular service a big mention is purely for the child’s sake. I think this information is invaluable to the parents, and as a result the child too.
Meanwhile, I do hope you enjoy finding out some more about Venus, as much as I did.
Love
Kashonia
PS I’ve also put a small notice on our Notice Board just pre-empting any questions as to why there have been a number of articles now on the planets and the like. Actually it is just below this one, but it will be filed in our Notice Board archive
Spotlight on Venus
by Stefanie Baeker
- Venus enters Pisces on January 14, 2012 at 3.47 am PDT, and stays until February 8
- Venus is retrograde in Gemini from May 15 to June, 27, 2012
- Venus Transit June 6. 2012
Navigating through life in awareness of cosmic events can help dealing with challenging life situations. This does not mean that one has to have a deep knowledge of astrology or astronomy in order to manage life – because over-analyzing paralyzes, as we all know – but to have a basic idea of one’s own birth chart and current geo-cosmic events that affect us all, definitely helps us find peace of mind. For the same reason that we leave the house with an umbrella if meteorologists foresee a 70% chance of rain, we can deliberately develop patience with others during difficult transits.
Like humans, planets have their own vibrational signature. The most widely accepted fact about planetary energies is that the Moon rules waters and is responsible for the ocean tides. The human organism consists of ca. 80% water, and emotions cause our waters to flow, for example in form of tears of joy or pain.
When Venus is in Pisces – January 14th – February 8th
Venus is generally associated with the attraction of wealth, love, partnerships and beauty, as well as with diplomacy and the arts at large. Some of her darker expressions include laziness, hedonism, overindulgence, lack of courage, indecisiveness or a rather passive approach to relationships.
According to her placement by astrological house (which corresponds to a person’s life area), by zodiac sign (which indicates how events manifest in our life), and by the angles to the other planets, Venus’ characteristics are modified.
If planets shoot their rays at each other in a flowing 60-degree angle for example, it supports a harmonious interchange of energies, as with musical notes. By contrast, a 90-degree angle can cause friction and boxed-in energies that need a pressure valve to release the steam.
Venus is exalted in Pisces, which means that Venusian vibes blend harmoniously with those of Neptune and Jupiter, both ruling planets of Pisces. Here, Venus wants to inspire humans to desire material and spiritual growth. Magnetism is strong, and a sense of social harmony as well as an artistic nature is expressed with compassion.
During Venus’ transit through Pisces, personal love can become divine, unconditional compassion. It will be much easier for us to practice selflessness, connect with others on a soul-level, and foster spirituality in our partnerships. We may fall in love with someone for love’s sake, or with the mere idea of someone.
Neptune’s shiny side is a great sense of imagination, fantasy, supernatural and mystic inclinations, a universal viewpoint and a pronounced appreciation of the arts – especially music, dance, or film-making.
Misused Neptunian energy can manifest as fogged-up perception, deception (including stretching the truth to not hurt anyone), hallucination, addictions of any kind, or worry and fear. Knowing both sides, we have the power of choice.
Pisces knows no limits, and we must stay clear on our path, be discriminative in choice of our partner(s) and keep our healthy boundaries up, if we do not want to fall prey for the underdog in an attempt to help. It may be more difficult than at other times to use realistic judgment because we hold so much compassion for human failure; and most likely, we feel like an emotional sponge. It is wise to protect ourselves from emotional drain.
During this Pisces transit, we will do well making good use of the diplomatic people skills that are expressed through Libra, one of the signs ruled by Venus.
Venus retrograde
When planets are said to be in retrograde motion, they appear to move backwards because of the difference in speed related to Earth. Planetary energies tend to turn inside during retrograde periods.
Venus is retrograde from May 15 to June 27, and invites us to re-evaluate the real worth of our relationships and possessions (Taurus or material and Libra or people issues). It is wise to take initiative only after Venus turns direct, because the retrograde motion alters our perspectives related to Venus themes such as beauty, magnetism, wealth, attraction, partnerships or the arts.
In Gemini, our need for variety and experiences is likely to inflate. We will be more curious about people than at other times, but should beware of turning into a social butterfly, flitting from flower to flower. Old friends and lovers may re-enter life.
Some may feel restless, seeking mental stimulation. Some may be itching to travel and experience other surroundings. When Venus is retrograde, we should be extra thoughtful about all the relationships we are living, and the way we relate to others. It is also a good time to reconsider our material gains in life.
Sun – Earth – Venus Alignment – the Transit of Venus
On June 6, Venus will be transiting between Sun and Earth. As lunar or solar eclipses affect the electromagnetic field on Earth, this event will alter the impact of Venus’ vibration on Earth. A Venus transit is a rare event. It happens in a 243-year cycle, and we are fortunate to be in the middle of a pair of transits, with the first having been on June 8, 2004, and the second coming up on June 6, 2012. The next pair will be in 2117 and 2125.
Metaphysically, this conjunction (or alignment) suggests the (re!) emergence of the Divine Feminine. Mayan Calendar researcher, Carl Johan Calleman, connects the 2004 transit with the Oneness Celebration and the birth of a telepathic communication network. As we know, Venus represents beauty, harmony, wealth, magnetism, the arts but also the heart chakra. Sun represents vital force, the Self, willpower, and meaning. Lining up with these two sets of energies seems to provide a perfect window of opportunity for us Earthlings to cultivate our intuition and start vibrating in harmony – just like harmonic frequency waves in music.
I trust you’ll now be able to better-live in harmony with the special times when Venus is centre-stage.
